Sports nutrition jobs

Sports nutrition jobs focus on improving the performance of athletes by offering dietary guidance that will result in muscle gain, weight loss, improved endurance, increased energy or increased strength. Sports nutrition jobs are most often available within collegiate athletics or professional sporting organizations.

Fitness-focused nutrition jobs can be found in many commercial gyms and fitness centers, as well as community centers such as YMCAs. Individuals will need at least a bachelor’s degree in a nutrition program to qualify for this type of job and in some cases a Registered Dietitian is required.

Becoming certified by organizations recognized by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence can make you more competitive when trying to land a sports nutrition job. An exercise certification through the American College of Sports Medicine is well respected in the field.

Jobs in sports nutrition require at least a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, often a master’s degree and status as a Registered Dietitian is required. In addition, sports nutrition jobs require a deep knowledge of how food relates to physical performance and familiarity with sport nutrition supplements on the market including safety concerns, allowance of use by athletic authorities, appropriate uses and ideal doses.

Armed sports nutrition

Informed-Sport, a programme of quality assurance for the sports nutrition industry and its suppliers, tests supplements independently for substances on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA’s) list of banned substances.

Their tests and certification process check appliances, pharmaceuticals and sports supplements against health requirements while maintaining records on any banned substances found within supplements so as to prevent doping.

The frequency of testing is the key difference between Informed Sport & Informed Choice. Before a product can be sold, Informed Sport tests each batch. Informed Choice tests its products monthly on a blind test schedule.

Safeguarding your reputation isn’t just for elite athletes, but also for military personnel and special forces. Based on our testing and surveys, as many as 1-in-10 supplements can be contaminated with banned substances. Members of the active military are subject to strict anti-doping regulations and drug exams. By ingesting even small levels of a banned substance, the possibility of having a positive drug test exists. This could lead to being discharged and possibly prosecuted.

This assessment is based on years of experience with supplement analysis. It evaluates the integrity of all manufacturing stages, from the supply of raw materials to third-party manufacturing and packaging and storage.
